5 players to follow Allegri to Arsenal
Massimiliano Allegri is being heavily linked as Arsenal’s replacement for Arsene Wenger.
Here are five players that he could well sign in the summer.
There is a growing feeling around Arsenal football club that this summer will be the time that Arsene Wenger chooses to call it a day. After a 21-year tenure that has become increasingly difficult in recent years, the repeated weaknesses of the squad are becoming untennable for a man who is supposedly an intelligent, insightful manager.
As such, the rumoursnow suggest that Massimiliano Allegriwill be the man that the Gunners turn to in Wengers’s absence.
5. Miralem Pjanic
At Juventus, Allegri inherited a defence-first team under the tutelage of Antonio Conte.
Built on the stifling qualities of Georgio Chiellini and Gianluigi Buffon, the Italian giants, while having techincal, creative midfielders in the form of Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Pirlo, they were undoubtedly a team designed to suffocate their opponents first, and score goals second.
Without diluting the qualities of the squad, Allegri has brought a great freedom and expression to the Juventus play in attacking areas.
One player who he signed to figurehead this change in philosophy was Roma’s Miralem Pjanic, who has since progressed to become a key member of the Juventus side under Allegri.
At Arsenal, the Bosnian international would fit in well with a midfield that also takes great care of the ball. He could replace Santi Cazorla as the deep lying tempo setter, the metronome from deep, instigating attacks and forging space for his teammates.
Plus, he’s a big fan of Allegri and would enjoy playing under the Italian once more. next
