Mamma Mia sequel confirmed, to be release in July 2018!

Mamma Mia, Mamma Mia… here we go again. It has been confirmed that the long awaited Mamma Mia sequel is finally happening, and it’s hitting cinemas very soon.

Universal has confirmed that the sequel to the 2008 smash hit starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, and Colin Firth will be released in July 2018.

You’ve only got just over a year left, so you’d better prepare yourself by watching the original on repeat.

The sequel will be released exactly 10 years and 2 days after the original hit cinemas, which grossed a whopping $609.8 million at the worldwide box office.

We’re not quite sure why it took so long for a sequel to actually be confirmed as back in 2009 we were all told that it was ‘coming soon’. Not soon enough, clearly.
It’s thought that the original cast will be returning to our screens, so no doubt it will be as amazing as the original.

Furthermore, the movie will be complete with a whole new soundtrack of ABBA songs, which were not featured in the first movie. There will be some classics in there along the way.

Ol Parker has been brought on board to write and direct the sequel. Parker was responsible for penning hit movie, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

What do we actually know about the sequel?
Unfortunately, not a lot at this stage apart from the fact that it will shoot on the Greek island of Kalokairi.

More information will do the rounds as filming begins, but now it’s just a waiting game. But, at least we know it’s coming…

Mamma Mia 2 will be released on July 20, 2018.
