Shakespeare & Vardy set Premier League records for Leicester

The Foxes manager and top scorer helped their side to a 3-0 win over Watford, setting club and personal records in the process
Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare and forward Jamie Vardy both set Premier League records as the Foxes defeated Watford 3-0 on Saturday.

Shakespeare took over from Claudio Ranieri as manager in February, and became the first ever Englishman to guide his side to victory in each of his first five home games.

The 53-year-old is the fourth manager overall to reach that landmark, following in the footsteps of Manuel Pellegrini, Sven Goran Eriksson and Carlo Ancelotti.

Shakespeare is currently only contracted until the end of the season at the King Power Stadium and has picked up 22 points since replacing Ranieri, who had just 21 points to his name when he was let go after a terrible start to the season.

Jamie Vardy provided the assist for Marc Albrighton's stoppage time goal against Watford, helping the Foxes seal a comfortable victory. The assist was the 60th time Vardy has been directly involved in a top-flight goal for Leicester.

Vardy now has 41 goals and 19 assists in the league, overtaking Muzzy Izzet to become Leicester's most influential player in the Premier League era.

The win over Watford takes Leicester into the top half of the table, pushing them into ninth position with three games remaining.
