Manchester City Plot move for Messi in world-record £357m move from Barcelona in January

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Pep Guardiola would love to be reunited with his former player and Barcelona star Lionel Messi at the Etihad stadium by January 2018.

Messi’s dwindling contract could help City bring the Barcelona ace to the Premier League in a potential deal which would outshine Neymar’s £195m summer switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Manchester side are reportedly willing to pay a world-record £357million in January for Lionel Messi.

The Argentine attacker is on verge of being a free agent at the end of the season and is yet to agree a new deal at Camp Nou.

But Barcelona hierarchy are very confident of keeping Messi beyond this season, after securing a life long contract with Andreas Iniesta.

AS claims sources close to Man City have held “serious conversations” with Messi’s “inner circles” and City have proven over the last few summers that they have the money to throw around.

However, the report adds that Messi is “happy with his life in Barcelona”, with the star’s wife also reluctant to pull their family for a move abroad.
However the Etihad outfit are reportedly still keen of luring Arsenal's winger Alexis Sanchez in January and could make a £20m bid for the Chilean.

There is also said to be interest in Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam, who could arrive at the Etihad as a replacement for long-term injury crock Benjamin Mendy.

Man City have made a flying start to this season's campaigns both in the Premier League and Champions League, but Pep still wish to strengthen the already strong City squad.
