A house wife, Maryam Sanda, has been remanded in Suleja prison for allegedly killing her husband, Bilyamin Bello, a son of a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman.

The accused was sent to jail on Friday, November 24, after she was arraigned in court by the police on murder charges.

The counsel to the accused, Hussein Musa, asked the court to let the defendant be in the police custody, arguing that she is still a nursing mother.
He said it would be improper for her to be remanded in prison custody because she is nursing a child.

However, the presiding judge, Yusuf Halilu, declined to grant the request of the defence counsel.
He ruled that the suspect be remanded in Suleja prison and adjourned the matter to December 7 for further hearing.
