Aitor Karanka Posts Classy Response To Losing His Job As Middlesbrough Manager

Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka has agreed to leave the club by mutual consent.

Karanka had been at Boro since replacing Tony Mowbray in November 2013, in what was his first managerial role. The former assistant to Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid finished mid-table in the Championship in his first season.

The following season, his first full campaign in charge, he led them to a fourth-placed finish and the playoffs. Unfortunately, they missed out on promotion with a 2-0 Play-Off Final defeat to Norwich.

They put that defeat behind them and gained promotion to the Premier League just one season later with a second-placed finish.

Their first season back in the Premier League has been a tough one and Boro find themselves second from bottom after twenty-seven games. They have won just four of those and drawn ten, with relegation back to the Championship looking likely.

Middlesbrough announced Karanka’s departure today (Thursday) on their Twitter page and released a statement on their official website.
