Real Madrid have been idle since their 4-1 Champions League success against Juventus at the start of June, but this match kicks off a mouth-watering pre-season for them, which includes matches against Manchester City, Barcelona and the MLS All-Stars.
This transfer window has not proven the busiest for Real Madrid just yet, with more departures than arrivals, but the rumours are swirling about surrounding a couple of big names and you know it’s likely just a matter of time before they flex their spending muscle.
Manchester United likely are not done spending either, but they have already flexed the cash this window with the expensive purchase of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, who has impressed early in his tenure, scoring in each of his first two starts against Real Salt Lake and Manchester City.
It's been a winning pre-season thus far for Jose Mourinho’s men, as they have claimed three victories from three matches, defeating MLS sides LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake, before beating their rivals Manchester City on Thursday night – a run of form they would love to keep going tonight against the Champions League winners.
