Today, Riyad Mahrez is ready to join
Arsenal….
Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez is ready to accept a 4-year contract with Arsenal ahead of a potential £35m move after growing tired of waiting for Barcelona, according to Spanish outlet Sport.
Mahrez is set to leave the King Power stadium this summer after handing in a written transfer request last month with the attacker stating he was ready to take the next step in his career.
The Algerian international has been strongly linked with a number of clubs in recent weeks with Sportclaiming he’s been holding out for a dream move to Barcelona after the Catalans expressed
their interest.
However, with the La Liga giants concentrating their efforts on landing Marco Verratti from PSG, the Spanish outlet says Mahrez has grown tired of waiting around and is now ready to accept a four-year deal on the table from Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his admiration for Mahrez after publicly hinting earlier this month that he could make a move to sign the Leicester attacker this summer.
It seems the boss has since stepped-up his interest asSportclaim we’ve put forward a contract offer to the player and Mahrez is ready to put pen-to-paper ahead of a £35m move from the Foxes.
This report from Spain comes just days after The Sunreported that Mahrez had snubbed Chelsea and Liverpool in favour of joining Arsenal in order to play under Wenger so the speculation is certainly intensifying.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I have a feeling we’re lining-up Mahrez up as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil as contract talks with our star duo continue to stall.
I don’t see Mahrez as being in their league just yet but he’s obviously a huge talent and he’d be a great signing if we could get him back to the form he displayed during the 2015/16 season.
Mahrez played a starring role for Leicester with his 17 goals and 10 assists helping to fire Claudio Ranieri’s men to a surprise title while he was also named as the PFA Player of the Year.
